1) What is Envato Hosted?
Envato Hosted is a Managed WordPress Hosting solution offered by Envato in conjunction with some of the top themes on ThemeForest. By offering customers a more complete solution of theme, setup, hosting and support, authors are able to target new customers and convert one-off purchases into recurring revenue for years to come.
2) What is Hosted on ThemeForest?
Hosted on ThemeForest is the button on your TF Item page that says ‘Get Theme with Hosting’. This is targeted at traditional TF customers who would have bought the theme by itself, but also like the idea of installation, hosting and support bundled in for a low monthly cost.
To date, Hosted on ThemeForest Hosted has only been available on a small number of themes. You can see an example of the ‘Get Theme with Hosting’ button on Enfold.
3) What is Envato Websites?
Envato Website is a new place for small-to-medium business customers to find an easy to use, fit for purpose website. The designs sold on Envato Websites are hand-picked based on a number of factors including usability, stability, and visual design. You can browse Envato Websites here: https://envato.com/websites
4) What is the difference between Hosted on ThemeForest and Envato Websites?
Envato Websites is the newest addition to Envato Market. Specifically targeted at small-to-medium business customers, the site provides customers with a complete website solution, and allows customers to browse by website designs that have been created from ThemeForest themes or Envato Sites.
If a customer purchases a Theme with hosting from ThemeForest, they will be set up with a WordPress site that has the theme installed, and they will need to install the demo content themselves.
If a customer purchases a WordPress website design from Envato Websites we aim to set them up with a site that looks exactly like the design/demo/live preview they have selected.
5) Why can’t I see my theme(s) on Envato Websites?
Not all Themes on Envato Hosted are shown on the Envato Websites. When selecting new items for Envato Websites we review the designs & features of each theme.
We’re currently looking for easy to use, niche, industry-specific themes with impressive demos that can be reliably recreated. If you believe you have a suitable theme and designs, please get in touch with the team.
6) Where can I track the hosted sales/statistics?
Hosted authors earn money when customers use their theme. There are two types of Hosted earnings:
- Envato Hosted Distributor License is paid after a customer uses your theme for 2 full months (third payment for monthly subscribers, and 2 calendar months for annual subscribers)
- Envato Hosted Service Proceeds is paid for every full month a customer uses your theme.
Hosted earnings can be tracked through the Earnings and Statements pages in your Envato Market author account.
There are two entries in the Earnings page drop-down which show the quantity, value, and period of Hosted revenue:
- Hosted Sales
- Hosted Service Proceeds
Just like with other Envato Market earnings, each Hosted Distributor Licenses sale will appear as a line item in your statement. Hosted Service Proceeds are collected daily, and paid in the lump sum once a month.
7) What happens if the subscription price changes?
You will always get paid the same amount, regardless of any change in the subscription price offered to customers (including sales, or coupon promotions). This ensures you are correctly compensated for any licenses we’re granting, and allows us to experiment with monthly and annual pricing to improve conversion and retention.
8) How can I have another theme added to Hosted on ThemeForest?
If you have a new theme or an existing theme that you'd like added, it's best you first check your theme against our Hosted Theme Guidelines. If your theme meets all of our guidelines, and it's up to date on ThemeForest, please let the hosted team know so they can review the theme.
9) Is there anything else I should know?
- As part of the Envato Hosted - Onboarding Wizard, we ask customers to supply links to the social media profiles for their business/website. You can find out more here.
