Appearance Menu Admin
To get started, go to Appearance > Menus from your WordPress admin screen.
- Select a menu to edit or click the create a new menu link at the top
- Add or remove links from the left-hand sections.
- To enable custom post type categories, click Screen Options at the top-right of this screen and check off the category sections to enable.
- To add a Home link, click the View All link in the PAGES section and check the Home option at the top. WordPress creates this for you to ensure your home link always goes to your main page, regardless of which actual page is set as your Home Page.
- Drag your links into the desired order.
- To create submenus, drag the link up under its parent and shift it to the right. See below for details
- Under the Menu Settings section below your link setup, ensure “Automatically add new top-level pages…” is unchecked
- Select your desired location for the menu under the Locations section - for most themes, the main menu is the Primary Navigation or Primary Menu location.
- Click SAVE
- Repeat these steps to add more menus, if desired.
Creating Sub-Menus or Drop-downs
Drop-down menus are produced by tucking link items under a main link in your menu editor area. To do that, add a link to your menu, then left-click and drag it under the menu item you want to use as the main link. Pull it slightly to the right until it locks in place.
